A Place of Nostalgia

I had the very great pleasure of meeting Aric Grier who, along with his family, owns and operates Yesterday Spaces, an enchanting, rustic working farm and event venue. With its lovely pastoral setting and carefully curated antiques Yesterday Spaces is the epitome of tranquility and charm.

Yesterday Spaces features several beautiful options for wedding ceremonies including a gorgeous open field nestled in the valley surrounded by excellent views of the mountains to the west of Asheville.

The field approach is perhaps one of the most intriguing features of the venue in that it is a tree-lined pathway that was part of the original wagon road that traversed through the Leicester Community.

The multi-level, climate-controlled Main Event Barn boasts many antiques, a full catering kitchen, a spectacular sound system with broadcasting capabilities throughout the structure, a large reception hall with plenty of space for mingling and dancing, bridal dressing room, two covered porches, bar areas and much more.

In addition to the Main Event Barn, Yesterday Spaces features a converted dairy barn that dates back to at least 1911 (but could possibly be much older) with attached silo and original Louden milking stalls. The Dairy Barn can be used for any number of gatherings including smaller ceremonies, rehearsal dinners and more intimate gatherings.

The jewel in the crown of Yesterday Spaces is the 1911 Farm House that serves as lodging for guests. This beautiful, five bedroom, three bath farm house has been lovingly restored and furnished with antiques exclusive to that time period. It has the capacity for 13 guests making it a wonderful choice for wedding parties.

Additional offerings include a sheltered petting area for the resident miniature donkeys, and a beautiful pony, aptly named Prancer. A huge field, banked on the south side by a row of trees, plays host to a fire pit suitable for bonfires and s’mores as well as backyard games such as corn hole and bocce ball. The farm produces large amounts of organic produce, flowers as well as Devon beef which are used locally by many restaurants and markets.

With the ability to accommodate up to 300 guests and an abundance of rural appeal, Yesterday Spaces is ideal for large gatherings as well as smaller intimate affairs that any bride would be thrilled to call “home” for her wedding day. Guests will be enthralled with the history and the magic of Yesterday Spaces and a wedding here will create fond memories that will last a lifetime.
